Bodyart: An expression of the youth

Body art, A type of art in which the artist uses his or her own body as the medium; it is closely related to Conceptual art and Performance art, and flourished mainly at the same time that these forms of expression were at their peak—the late 1960s and 1970s (there was something of a revival in the 1990s). Sometimes works of Body art are carried out in private and communicated by means of photographs or films; sometimes the execution of the ‘piece’ is public. Body art is often playful in spirit, but several leading exponents have been concerned with self-inflicted pain or ritualistic acts of endurance.

It has been found as the most popular forms of arts in the prevailing youth culture. Humans use it as a way to communicate powerful messages. when looking from anthropologist's perspective, it seems that body art provides for humans to relate to their experiences and convey expressions in an artistic form through their physical body. This art is apparent in forms of body tattoos, painting or scars , temporary decorations such makeup, clothing, hairstyles reflecting upon an individuals values, beliefs, attitude fashion or lifestyle defining expressions.
If someone doesn’t want to commit to permanent body art, there are ways of translating the idea through make-up.” It has generally reached out to the masses and have become very vogue centric. There is a previlege of accessing to both permanent and temporarily body art which stays for few days and you can always avail to another with the changing trend.
